The behaviour shown in the film footage was what we refer to as ‘displaying’ rather than fighting – if you watch closely, there was actually very little physical contact. Chimpanzees display like this to retain their places in the social hierarchy, without actually having to physically fight an opponent – it is about intimidating the opponent with lots of noise and bluster instead. Jambo and Mongo, a father and son duo, have hereditary alopecia. They are both very active members of the social group, with Jambo being the alpha male.
Appearances can be beguiling, even in the set of all animals. These chimpanzees taped at a zoo in England look somewhat unique in relation to their companions. That is on the grounds that they experience the ill effects of alopecia, a turmoil where the resistant framework assaults hair follicles, creating hairlessness.
In any case, don’t believe that makes them any less extreme than their shaggy siblings. Furthermore, on the off chance that this video is anything to pass by, it may very well make them considerably more fearsome! It may resemble these chimps are battling, however this kind of play is really typical inside their group. Still, it would seem that those smooth chimps aren’t the ones you need to upset!
