Atletico Madrid vs. Bayern Munich: Score, Reaction from 2016 Champions League

13:48

It's advantage Atletico Madrid after they edged out Bayern Munich 1-0 in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League semi-final at the Vicente Calderon on Wednesday.
Saul Niguez's sublime solo effort saw the hosts take a deserved early lead in an excellent first half for the hosts, and while Bayern were mostly the better side in the second half, they were unable to break down manager Diego Simeone's side who put in a typically resilient performance.
Bayern manager Pep Guardiola opted to deploy Douglas Costa and Kingsley Coman in an attempt to force the organised hosts out wide, per ESPN FC's Dermot Corrigan:
Bayern almost hit back immediately, but Jose Gimenez was on hand to clear Arturo Vidal's header off the line.
The Bavarians slowly began to exert more control over proceedings but struggled to create any clear-cut chances. Their most promising effort came from Coman on the right, but he could only send the ball straight to 'keeper Jan Oblak.
Meanwhile, Atletico continued to threaten as Griezmann latched on to a long ball over the top before forcing a save from Manuel Neuer while under pressure from Javi Martinez.
